First Look at 2013 Star Wars Weekends Pins

Star Wars Weekends will always hold a special place in the hearts of the Once Upon a Pin team. It is this time of year when we launched the podcast and website. We have not spotted too many 2013 Star Wars Weekends pins yet, but the Disney Parks Blog did just reveal a few. Remember, Star Wars Weekends is held at Disney's Hollywood Studios for four consecutive weekends beginning May 17th.

The logo pin is a no-brainer. And we already saw the logo revealed last week

Last year we had the comedic "Piece of the Death Star" pin. This year we get a lonely Stormtrooper morning the loss of his fallen comrades.

It is the 30th anniversary of Return of the Jedi this year, so Disney will release this special LE ROTJ 30th Jumbo pin. Other than these, we have seen some open edition pins that will debut at SW Weekends that you can see in this post. DLR 3/15 Trade Night Previews

There were many pins previewed at the March 15th Disneyland Trade Night. These photos are brought to us by OCVinylDon from the Facebook group VinylmationTraders. We will look at them in reverse chronological order.

JUNE

In this June Limited Edition photo we can see 4th of July, Mulan (to celebrate the blu-ray release?), Cinderella Window to the Magic, Monsters University Opening Day, Disneyland Oval?, and Toy Story Midway Mania Piece of Disneyland History.

Open Editions include a Disney animal Magical Mystery Pin series, a Disney Princess four pack (Jasmine, Belle, Aurora and Tiana), then a few various Mickey Heads. The Mickey and Minnie look to have rubberized faces.

TIKI ROOM 50th EVENT

Unfortunately, this is the best photo I found of this board. But on the bottom you can see a framed set with the sheet music from the Tiki song and a Tiki Room themed lanyard with medal. In the middle you can see a mystery pin set that features Disney characters interacting with elements from the Tiki Room. On the top you can see the Early Bird Registration pin, event logo pin, Dole Whip pin and a couple pins that seem to feature the artist SHAG's artwork. Remember, the event is at Disneyland and will take place on June 28th and 29th.

MAY

The May LE pins include many we already saw on DisneyPins.com. But there is a Jack Skellington and a May DLR Pin Trading Night pin. As well as what looks to be a 25th anniversary Who Framed Roger Rabbit pin. 10 Years of Nemo, IASW Piece of Disneyland History and the Nemo Window to the Magic are the highlights for me. 

The Open Edition pins for the month include some DCLs, Mickey playing sports and a really cool Donald Duck "The Original Angry Bird" pin!

This one is called the Disney Dream Kingdom mystery set. Each pin seems to incorporate a land, feature or logo from the Disney parks with some including a Mickey Ears element. It looks like they are $12.95 for 2 pins and will also release in May.

There will also be a Princess Pin Trading Starter Set featuring a princess lanyard and four princess pins. They are Cinderella, Rapunzel, Arial and Snow White and the designs appear to match the June four pack shown above.

STAR WARS

This 12 pin mystery set features Star Wars characters with the signs of the Zodiac. Kinda weird  but the artwork is top notch. Expect these in May. Probably at Star Wars Weekends in Hollywood Studios. 

Those Disney Character Star Wars poster like pins up top are ridiculous. I want them now. The Vinylmation Jr Series 9 Star Wars Droid pins are extremely creative. They are the perfect idea for the smaller Vinylmation platform with an 18 figure set. They make pretty nice pins as well. These will also release in May.

Hong Kong Disneyland Pin Trading Fun Days 2013
April 12 - 14, 2013
10:00am - 5:00pm

Join us on April 12-14, 2013 from 10:00am-5:00pm at the Royal Banquet Hall Restaurant in Fantasyland of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. All pin traders are welcome to join in on the festivities. There will be games, commemorative limited edition pins, and a Pin Trading Fun Day Exclusive Pin available.

Four (4) brand new limited edition pins will be launched for the Pin Trading Fun Days 2013 as well as two (2) new Hidden Mickey Pin Series.

Disneyland Paris March 2013 Pin Releases
