The 2013 D23 Expo takes place in Anaheim this August 9-11 and just like two years ago, there is plenty of special merchandise to pick up to commemorate the event. On Tuesday, the RSP Merchandise and Dream Store Advanced Orders form was made available to Sorcerer level ticket holders. All the pins seen below will be available to any guest of the Expo inside the the Dream Store, but Sorcerer level ticket holders do get first crack at ordering a few of the products.
It is overall an impressive lineup of pins that includes what you would expect as far as event logo items and event mystery sets as well as a few surprises and odd choices. Here is a look at the four D23 logo pins that mimic the sorcerer characters shown in the graphic above.
The Donald is of course my favorite, but it also has the most real features of all the pins. These are all wonderful designs and I am a sucker for stained glass. The next pin is for the Disney Legends Ceremony.
I bet this pin looks great in person. Lots glittery sparkle elements and a stone up atop the wand. There is a nice sculpted pin on pin element with the scroll, castle and arm with wand. The next pin is exclusive to D23 members and is for PinDisney Traditions.
This one is the most plain of offerings we have in this catalog. We get another Sorcerer Mickey against a blue circle background. The next one is the most interesting, but certainly not the best in my opinion.
I know Disney fans go crazy over LE Piece of Disney History items... but do we really want a piece of the banner they were going to toss after the first expo? And who said, "Hey, we should keep that. It may come in handy in the future?" It is a decent design and Chip and Dale were kind of the mascots of the first expo back in '09 I believe. But could they not think of something more cool to stick in that bubble? A piece of Johnny Depp's jacket? Bob Iger's tie? Hannah Montana's wig? Next we have an open edition pin that should be quit popular.
Anything Nightmare sells well. This is a wonderful design with a great slogan. Now for a couple sets of pins. First up is the expo logo set.
A very nice take on a theme of getting that D23 Expo banner into a series. Here, we have some seldom used characters for sets like this "enjoying" the expo. I particularly like the Ursula with Minnie ears, Mickey plush and shopping bag. Lummiere is fun character to toss into the mix. And collectors certainly can not get enough Tangled... and this is funny depiction of Rapunzel dragging Flynn along for some shopping.
This mystery set features Pixar shorts! Love the idea here as these guys certainly do not get much love. I especially love the Day/Night guys. That short is so under rated. And I'm sure little Buzz will be a popular one.
The two framed sets above are not for sure available in the Dream Store at the Expo. They are only available for order before the event by Sorcerer Level ticket holders. I would imagine any left over would show up at the Dream Store.
